Nathan Stew

Posted on 2007.11.17 at 11:34
So Nathan is 10 months, 4 days old and still has no teeth. Evidently, teeth can come in as late as 1.5 yrs. Here is table describing when each type are expected:

We had some fun in the kitchen today - Nathan's favorite toy is this wooden spoon:

Happy Halloween!

Drumlin Farm - Lincoln, MA

Went to Drumlin Farm last weekend. The pigs were hysterical - running around head-butting each other, having a grand ol' time. I know I'm not suited to be a vegetarian, as every time I see live chickens - I get hungry.

Ahhh, Fall - we're peeping and trying not to eat the leaves:

Nathan is ecstatic about pumpkins:

Mmm, chickens:

Chatham Vacation -> Labor Day Weekend

Posted on 2007.09.30 at 09:36
Been distracted by work and travel lately. Here's a brief update: Went to Chatham for our 1st family vacation 8/18-8/25, then visited the family cottage on Plum Island for Labor Day Weekend.

At the Sesuit Harbor Cafe in East Dennis - while Nathan enjoys his Earth's Best organic pears, Moms and Pops feasted on their favorite meal of the entire vacation (pan seared scallop salad and lobster roll respectively):

At our place in South Chatham - Pleasant St. beach:

Nathan Babble or 1st Word (?)

Posted on 2007.08.14 at 19:48
It occurred to me while sitting in meetings all day at work that it's truly impossible to distinguish baby babble from first words. Six Sigma-ma-ma. According to Dr. Peter Jusczyk at Johns Hopkins a 1 month-old can distinguish the sound "pa" from "ba." Here, Nathan at 7 months, 1 day articulates a touching 1st babble for Mommy:

Nathan will be one happy babykins when he figures out how to go forward:

neat code

Posted on 2007.07.17 at 20:45
This is from http://www.retrogismo.com/crazy.htm - it's pretty cool:

Step 1. go to any website (the more pictures, the better)
Step 2. delete everything in the address bar
Step 3. paste the following code in the address bar:

javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI=document.images; DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i-DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position='absolute'; DIS.left=Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5; DIS.top=Math.cos(R*y1+i*y2+y3)*y4+y5}R++}setInterval('A()',5); void(0);

Step 4. press enter and have fun

New Knee & Hungry Baby

Posted on 2007.06.17 at 13:11
I had knee surgery on Friday to repair a bucket-handle tear to my meniscus and get my ACL reconstructed (again). Home now, doing leg extensions to 60 degrees on some strap-in machine that looks to have a Nintendo controller ca. 1992. Glad to get this knee repaired now, as repeated knee 'pop-out' episodes when trying to train Nathan on his mid-range jump-shot will certainly delay his making the NBA.

Oh - Nathan ate solid food for the first time today. Here is the video:

As I lay in bed, knee throbbing from a freak, I was walking in my bedroom and my knee joint decided to pop apart, accident, contemplating the carnage to my meniscus, hoping the MRI didn't cause radiation damage to the lower half of my body - it occurred to me that I should post an updated picture of Nathaniel.
